Yeah, I know they won't even look at this.

But I post these suggestions for the fan guy who takes over the game and runs it from his basement whenever Bort gets tired of the game and shutters it, ala the people who still run fansite versions of Everquest and other MMOs long abandoned by their producers.

So indulge me and leave it open and make your comments if you wish to join me in this relatively pointless endeavor.

That said only a bit to get started.

1) Pulling Lineman - Change it to give the speed boost for the entire duration of a play where the lineman is pulling.

2) Outside Blocker - This one just needs clarification and simplicity, so the user can determine if he wants to use it or not. Change "7 yards outside..." language to "Pulling Linemen, WRs, FBs and TEs on outside running plays"

3) New VA - Short Yardage Blocker - Like Goal Line Blocker, but triggers on 3rd and 4th and short, say less than two yards to a first down.

That's all for now.

(No. However, having it last until the play gets PAST (perhaps like 0-3 yards) the original LOS would be perfectly fine.)

2) Outside Blocker - This one just needs clarification and simplicity, so the user can determine if he wants to use it or not. Change "7 yards outside..." language to "Pulling Linemen, WRs, FBs and TEs on outside running plays"

(I don't get why you're confused on this one. I use it regularly for my Power WR builds for that very reason.)

Does Clutch DO anything?

I tried giving all my dots Clutch for a few seasons and performance seemed to be worse, not better.

They were all awesome.

If they'd used them here, instead of in GLB2, we'd still have billions and billions of players.

Okay - the 1980s style replays wasn't my best suggestion. That sucks in practice as it turns out.

Let me clear up my confusion and how this fixes it.

Yes a WR is always going to be throwing his blocks 7 yards outside. I get that.

But in many other cases I have no idea which blocks are taking place outside the 7 yard line on any given play.

And they do not make it easy to say for sure, since they have said rather explicitly and repeatedly that you can't judge exact scale/position from the charting of the plays in the playbook nor from the replays.

So how the heck do I look at a playbook or a replay and measure seven yards from center?

And on some plays, its just not clear at all.

For example look at a strong I pitch weak. Is the LOT block happening 7 yards outside? How can you say for certain? Same play the RG should go outside, but what if hes slow or the opposition is fast and in a lot of his replays he's hitting a LB or FS somwhere around the LOT block? Seven yards???

Strong I Sweep Strong, is the RG blocking 7 yards outside? What if the RDE is usually fast and hits the ROT right away? Outside? I dunno.

Weak I HB Sweep Week, LG block looks to be where the BTE would be, is that 7 yards outside?

Or how about the edge runs, like Goal Line HB Offtackle? Its an "outside run" but is the TE blocking outside, 7 yards outside? How about the leading FB? Its an "outside" run, but hes inside the TE? Outside seven yards?

The yard measure is simply too precise for an imprecise user interface and rules set. If I don't know that my blockers are blocking within the parameters of the VA in my playbook, the VA becomes useless - maybe needlessly so.

So simplify. In any play designated "outside" any pulling lineman (one whose marking on the play is not a vertical T) and all TEs and FBs get the bonus. I should add HBs as well for the FB and QB sweeps. Now there is no guessing. If the play shows up on your outside run tab, it applies to those dots.

Really since the outside run is a different kind of block you could just say it applies to all O linemen on a play, especially since if there is a pulling linemen those linemen who stay have to pick up his assignment or work without his assistance.

That would make it even simpler. It would just be a VA you used if you ran outside a lot.

Easy. 7 yards is from the spot of the ball. So consider the following. Average distance between the center and the outside of the tackle is about 3 yards. So it is highly unlikely that any O-lineman will get much use of it... even if they're pulling. TE's might get a bit more use... but it is OBVIOUSLY a VA for WR's more than any other dot.
Now... if your idea is to make it useful for MORE than just WR's, then I'm not sure that's a good thing. There's already VA's for O-lineman for that stuff... and other VA's for FB's (lead blocker). This particular VA is for WR's (mostly) so it's supposed to be not nearly as useful for other dots as it is for WR's. I wouldn't want to make it different than it is because it would give even more of an advantage to O-linemen than they already have (which is plenty when you add up all the VA's and SA's that are designed for them). Understand, I'm a defensive minded guy and I already think the offense in this game is WAY too overpowered as it is. It's a great VA for a WR and it kinda should stay that way. IMO.
