How important is it to work on confidence? Does confidence directly determine how much morale a dot gets in the game? And are SAs like aura of intimidation worth investing into? How useful would a dot built to sap morale be?
Forum > FAQ's, Player Guides and Newbie Help > Importance of confidence and morale
To many here it's not important at all. In fact several refuse to put any effort into it at all. Some desire to get it to level 41 so they can activate Overtime Killer (a VA). For some dots it's more important than others. For QB's and kickers is has much more value than it does for an Offensive Lineman. As for how it is tied into Morale, I suspect it acts in symbiosis with morale. A low confidence means your dot is more likely to suffer WHEN morale is attacked (through interaction with another dot that has a 'morale attacking' SA or VA or through in-game incidents like scores or missing tackles, ect, ect.) If your team is always winning, then it's likely not to suffer 'morale attacks' enough to make high confidence a value... but in games where it's evenly matched or where you are slightly over-matched, then you're likely to suffer a loss of morale faster than if you had a high confidence (throughout the team).
Here's the big thing. There is literally no way to measure the effect of high vs low confidence or if it makes certain VA's and SA's fire more often (or less often). I believe that's why so many simply don't believe in confidence as a quality skill. I would say if you're building a dot, WHERE that dot plays will determine how valuable Confidence is. As I said, a QB or kicker needs a higher confidence because of how it effects them personally. A kicker with low/no confidence will likely miss more kicks, especially once they miss ONE kick. A QB with low/no confidence will have more bad throws (especially once they make their 1st bad throw).
As for SA's (and VA's) that attack morale, it is something several teams employ as a TEAM strategy (meaning ALL dots are in on the attack, not just a few) to win games... so it has merit for sure... as does defending against such teams with counter SA's and VA's but, again, it would have to be a TEAM effort to work.

Aura-Pummel builds affect D-Lines. Have you noticed the frowning faces during replays? There is also then a knock-on affect through the rest of the D. Having the D-Line and the D have 1st capped confidence will help mitigate some of the effects of the Aura-Pummel o-line.

No they are not a waste but if you go that route it haqs to be the whole offensive line, blocking te's and blocking wr or close to all of them to work

Is isn't as important for QB's to get it super high - 60 or 68-capped is enough - it is why Deep Passer is a better archetype choice vs. PocketPasser

confidence in the DL helps delay the Aura pummel issues... 50 is generally good. There is really 0 difference in 60 and 100 in a QB.
I'm a fan of getting it to 40 for most dots if you can, but certain builds have other important skills.
HB's i like having it higher so they dont fumble and take morale hits from MH and BH type SA's
LBs it supposedly helps with tackling, but who knows....
a dot with morale in the shitter takes a hit to their overall skills. Promos can help delay it a bit too.

although pocket passer QBs get the pass quality % gear at the top level.

if you are already rolling with 3 PQ% pieces and 1 PD% piece getting a 2nd piece of PD% is probably ok

KR/PR should get 40 minimum also, IMO, for same reason as a HB....

I've also thought that it would benefit WR in helping them hold on to the ball and limit the drops.

Does confidence help with Fakes and also with hitting the hole? Is there such a thing as hesitancy in this game if you don't have enough confidence because of what the dots has in front of them? Bah, I'm touching vision there.

It seems like confidence is circular in that it helps the player all around. So even for QBs 68 is the max you should take it?
