Not sure if this has been brought up before or not. I couldnt find anything on it if it was. On defense to be successful you need gap assignments and was wondering if it was possible to incorporate that into this game? For instance your best player on the D line is the Tackle position because he is the one you want to get double teamed and usually his gap is the strong side gap B and the NT on the other side is the weak side B Gap or A gap depending on his alignment. The DE are usually on the outside of the tackle or TE and they are to disrupt the Oline blocking and take the C gap. The Will usually has a 2 gap responsibility the Weak side C gap and B gap. The MLB has both the strong side A gap and Weak side B gap and the Sam has the Strong side C gap and B gap. Now the question is can the gap assignment be incorporated into this game?

Corners are not meant to contain they are meant to cover the WR and only come up to do run support if the back crosses the LOS. The OLB are supposed to support the Safeties who are supposed to come up and disrupt the outside running, but in this game i cant get the safeties to come up and do their jobs. It would be a lot easier if we could assign defensive guys gaps to cover.

We almost need the abiitie to put the safeties right on the sideline in order to cover pass plays and help with outside running.

And then 5 minutes later in another thread exclaims that GLB isn't WoW.

depends on the defense. tampa 2 relys on containment coming from the cbs

I dont like the Tampa 2 never have never will. It is way to weak against running teams since your CB pass off the WR to the safeties and most corners are too small to be taking on an Adrian peterson, marshawn lynch or leveon Bell. The same goes here in GLB the corners are not meant to take on a PB that has speed and power to the outside so a tampa 2 would never work in GLB. Gap assignments would help tremendously though and would hope that could be implemented here. As DC you want to make sure you have the umbrella in your defense and in GLB it is hard since the dots are not assigned gaps.

Tried but you cant do that with the Dline and that is where the gap assignments are most needed and then the LB need to be assigned a gap.

Yeah... I am so sorry to tell you this, LD, but defense gets VERY little love here. There's been a call for YEARS... MANY years for a DPC... and many years for more maneuverability of defensive dots (especially the LBs)... and many other suggestions that have died upon the deaf ears of WG. I couldn't even get them to give us the 5-2 defense for a long time (hell... maybe it STILL isn't available). Also asked for was stunting and twisting and the 2-3-6 prevent defense. The only thing they've really done to help defense is to eliminate 'motion offenses' from the offensive side.

How much flexibility does GLB give you per formation with the options to bunch/spread or shift the D-line and LB corps?

I have been against a couple of Ds that used a 3-4 and happily put both OLBs on the LOS. Could that be an option to help?

There are many options. Think outside the box. You can actually use zones to get players where you want them and when if you learn how the dots move. Also, you can shift linebackers and get them to blitz on shallow. That will stuff up most of the gaps. There's many workarounds, as well as putting a LB on man-man near the D-line. He may get stuck up on the line during a run play and get the gap like you wanted to
