Don't want to blow the build, lol, but when should someone start to seriously invest skill points into special abilities? I have capped the major physical attributes and football skills to their appropriate levels and have reached that point where I feel it may be time to pump some skill points into my SA's. Not sure though. What's the general opinion on this subject?

I would suggest a little earlier than that, as I've often gotten to those last boosts and wish I had saved more for SAs, so I'll say mid-60s.

think about the returns,
by the time you get up around L55, all of your majors should be taken care of and you're just working on minors
the gains from minors are in the cellar after L38, http://wiki.goallineblitz.com/index.php/Leveling
The number of seasons you want to hold off depends how much you value the SA versus the whatever minimal math advantage you'd gain by trying to squeeze in another cap or 2. Remember you'll still get the ALGs regardless, but you might be able to eek out a few more points for your EL calculation
if you're a pHB, you probably want to dig into 'Power Thru' earlier. If you're a DT you can probably hold off on that 'Fire Up' you've been dreaming of

not really
especially if a minor is one of the attributes you need to get high, like agility for a run block archetype OL
if you are done with strength, blocking and agility you still have a lot of work to do as well - like getting speed up there too
ideally, you put SP into SA's once you are done putting SP's into attributes that have ALG's
just make sure you have enough SP for your SA plan

It's probably best to work out what SA's you want your build to have and then work out a build plan for it that incorporates the skill level you want. If you want 3 SA's at 10 with no equipment in it, then your looking at 90 skill points right there. 90 skill points is easily mid-60's.

in theory no.... but at this stage in GLB, if you had agents with a pulse, you probably should have made them a salvage plan

this IMO....decide when you first create the player what you want for his final SA build, count up the points needed for it, and back plan those points from lvl79....I use the following chart for reference (note: may not be 100% accurate below lvl71)
