In what can only be considered the greatest comeback in WL championship history, this was an amazing game to watch spoiler-free.
In the first half, HHWC simply took it to Odessa. Their WR2's were faking the pants off of INT DB's for long TDs. Their run game was breaking tackles and making play. And on the other side of the ball, the Mojo were a mess, generating very little offense. The one time Odessa got a big 58 yard run down to the 4.5 yard line, they were stopped at the 3 yard line for a field goal, putting a nail in their coffin.
HHWC was up 38-3 at the half, in what looked like a blowout WL win.
However the 2nd half, Odessa showed a ton of fight. Their offense managed to put up 36 points, 20 of those being off of the defenses five 2nd half takeaway (4 picks, 1 FFUM). The D also came up with 5 forced punts in their impressive 2nd half shutout. Their final INT sealed the victory.
All-in-all, this was an extremely impressive game from both teams, who are inarguably GLB's two greatest franchises. Sure, both teams made some mistakes (HHWC passing 10 times compared to 7 rushes in the forth quarter comes to mind), but in the end, these teams both beat the best of the best on their quest for a WL championship, both lead GLB history with 6 (OMFG 6, I'd sell stizz to terrorists for 1) WL titles, and both were within two minutes and 1 point of being S45 WL champions.
Congratulations to the Odessa Mojo. And HHWC, while this has to be extremely heartbreaking to watch, that was one hell of an effort, and an extremely dominating 1st half.
