I don't know why they were even merged in the first place but it's terrible. I'd like to be able to mass delete a bunch of alerts all at once without having to worry about wiping out old messages I'd like to keep instead of having to click on each alert check box before mass deleting.

I've already deleted a load of messages I wanted to keep because of this shit!

Just don't delete anything. That way, you huge mass of unopened alerts will build up such that whenever you get a new one,you won't know because your inbox counter doesn't change.

DR, not sure if you've tried this but there's a drop box in the upper left-hand corner where you can select to view only alerts or only messages. That might help you out a little, but I agree that there's no way to truly KEEP and separate messages/alerts for future use/consideration. As systems go, GLB's PM/Alert system really sucks. And fixing it would be SO easy. Just give us the ability to FILE messages and alerts. Create our own folders where we can store that which we WANT to keep, and help us keep our inboxes uncluttered. Right now it's a holey pain in the ass to delete ANYTHING. I got a stack of alerts and a few PM's earlier this week and had to INDIVIDUALLY select each one I wished to delete so I wouldn't accidentally delete those I wanted to keep. A ROYAL pain in the ass. And completely unnecessary.

I can understand if they wanted it all in the same area or whatnot, but it'd be nice to see the inbox still separate them like ( 2 / 6 ) if you had 2 pms and 6 alerts instead of just ( 8 )

I never understood why they put them all together either.
When you are recruiting for a new team (at least in the old days) you can end up deleting PM's that are lumped in with all of the alerts.

Just give us folder ability and we're golden. Just to be able to put certain PM' s and Alerts that you want to save somewhere ELSE besides the main page would REALLY help.

you know, I'm just wondering if with the drop box someone could make a greasemonkey script to give us an alerts and inbox button separate again... would just open it up and select the inbox

then they'd just need to figure out the way to get the numbers to display

I think it saved server space which was needed to run the Duece

theyre just trying to get us all to ragequit.

Having just logged in after 18 months or so, I already +1 this after 9 new messages.
