Is that an oxymoron? Sim logic?

Our game that played today had the following inputs/outcomes:

1 play, HB Direct Snap, has a 5% chance of occurrence, occurs on 28% (9 out of 25) of snaps, w outcomes of 3.5, 3.5, 4, 2, 4.5, 1, 3, 2, and 1.5 yards. Package is set to adjust quickly.

2nd play, HB Dive, also has a 5% chance of occurrence, occurs on 58% (7 out of 12) of snaps w/ outcomes of 11.5, 3, 3, 5, 3.5, 7.5, and 3.5 yards. Package is also set to adjust quickly.

Playoff sim.

The odds of this outcome seem entirely unlikely, near impossible .... like lottery odds. How is this possible?

There's your answer.

For the first play, the first time the play was called, it "won": gained 3.5 yards. So Auto-Adjust adjusted it up. The second time was another win: 3.5 yard gain, so Auto-Adjust bumped it up again. The third time was yet another win: 4-yard gain, so Auto-Adjust bumped it up yet again. The fourth time was only a 2-yard gain, so AA probably held the play steady or bumped it down slightly, but that's still a net of 2 bump-ups. And then the fifth time was a 4.5-yard gain, which AA would've considered another "win" and thus would've bumped up the play yet again.

For the second play, same thing... AA would've considered every single one of those gains to be a win, so each time the play got called and gained good yardage, AA would've bumped it up again.

...

So... basically, you're complaining that Auto-Adjust worked exactly as it's intended to work?

What exactly is a 'win'? 3 yards?

4 plays x 3 yards = First Down every time

3 yards on 3rd and 8 isn't a 'win' though.

Unfortunately doesn't look at situation AFAIK, simply yardage.

That's lame, imo. It can't be that hard to put that into effect.

btw Farliq, congrats on heading to WL.

i've long wanted to be able to set what is considered successful by play. getting 3 on 3rd and 2 is great. getting 3 on 3rd and 10 is bad. but in typical glb fashion, glb treats them the same.

i assume the sim looks at any rushing gain as a successful play,

much safer to autoadjust quick on passing , and just set medium in rushing packages

That's a lot better than setting up a package with 8 plays that is set as 25% of all 1st and 2nd down offensive snaps outside of 4 minutes remaining in the half... and then to have only 2 of those plays happen a total of 3 times... one of those times being a touchdown.

Ikr, you see a play or plays that will tear it up, you put a good percentage in and the sim says fuck you and barely runs it
