Sheer curiosity- have teams been successful in GLB using a 'different' base defense (5-2, 4-4, Nickel) than the 4-3/3-4 standards? I'm pondering doing an experiment team around an odd defense to see the results, and was seeing if there were any reference points to start with.

Man... when I first started I ran a sh*t ton of the 44. Love that D. But, over time, it seems like LB's got nerfed to the point where it's kinda not worth it.

This has come into vogue lately.
Run a 3-3-5 with the CB2 slot reserved for KL/FF types. Like having a LOLB you can line up nearly everywhere on the strong side of the field.
