Ok, I know this is a dumb question but is there any good reason to wait to boost after lvl 40?

XP gains?
Doesn't matter much, though... might make a slight difference at Plateau in how many leftover XP you have for trading in, but I'd have to run it through the VPB to figure out the best way to maximize your trade-in XP.
Bottom line is, as long as you boost 3 times a season, you'll hit Level 79 in the end. The rest is just details, especially later in your build.

Overall, there are a few times where boosting early is smart (to gain the extra VP's... and at certain stages of the dot's career). But the downside (which, I admit, is not very big at all) is everytime you gain levels your training gains become smaller. Also, whenever you put SP's into a skill you lessen the amount of gain you get for any training of that skill in the future from that point on. It's why, basically, most people DON'T put all their SP's into their dots at the beginning. So they get the maximum amount of boost from training. As your dot gets older and higher in levels, the amount of lost training gains gets smaller and smaller... but it does exist. I am probably one of the few people that try to wring every single amount of training I can get from my dots... So I boost only at prescribed times and mostly at the end of seasons so as to maximize every little bit I can get. But many others simply boost whenever and do just fine. So it's kinda up to you. But that's the truth of it all anyways. Hope this helps you.

You can end up with 100 extra XP, which you can trade in for 2TP and 2BT, so you can have an extra 8BT (6 from light training + the extra 2) if you cut your AEQ really close.

best way to maximize your trade in XP is to not boost creation season. Can end with 200XP.
kinda sucks playing 3 levels behind just for a couple TP's at end though.

and end with fewer VP - not worth it IMO

I love the discussion in this thread.
Really, it all comes down to running it through the VPB. Experiment with different boosting strategies. Figure out how much XP you'll end with, how many VPs you'll end with, how many SPs you'll end with... every boosting strategy has benefits and drawbacks, so it all depends on what you want out of your dot and what you think is important.

If you end with 72 VXP and anywhere from 50 to 100 XP leftover you're doing it right IMO. It's tricky to get the 100 though as lots of things need to go right including which day your team plays on in certain seasons. I'll miss out on the 100 leftover XP and end with 50 with one of my dots simply because his team plays on odd days as opposed to even days. Not too big of a deal but my dumbass is going to miss having 4 max AEQ's by 1 BT due to not getting that extra 50XP and in turn, the extra 6 BTs from training. Shit happens so do not rely on being able to max your leftover XP to finish your EQ like I did haha

Oh yeah. ALWAYS build some extra BTs into your build plan.

Slight better training gains.
There are certain levels after 40 that you don't want to boost to because daily and game XP drop from one level to the next. For example at L41, daily XP drops from 50 to 25. At L53, game XP drops from 375 to 250.
If you haven't seen it, I suggest you look over this page:
