It's possible, just not very likely. There's just always too many HBs on the market.

If you have a free player available on Day 41 you can likely get one as Day 41 is when everyone retires. If you're fast you can get them.

No, sorry, not impossible, because every season there's a brag thread for people who managed to get a free HB.
As mentioned above, though, it's VERY difficult. You basically just have to park on your computer on Day 41 all day long and keep refreshing the player creation screen, waiting for that magical moment when enough HBs have been retired to get the demand for HBs high enough to make one for free so you can pounce on that moment. It's usually a pretty small window, but "small window" does not equal "no window."

I made two for my peewee team this season so it can happen.

Both of my free players are HB. It is all about the timing between when people are retiring players and creating new ones. Some times the window is on day 40 and some times on day 41.
