What is the best position for a STOP?

I personally like STOP Centers. Reasons;
#1, it's much easier to come up with enough defensive players to fill your depth chart without over-taxing your stamina of your starters... even going 2 and 3 deep on the depth chart. But it's MUCH harder to come up with enough offensive players to do the same. You generally end up using O-linemen on ST's... which "works"... but not as good since most O-linemen don't have enough speed to be as effective as a STOP offensive dot.
#2, They're cheap and easy to build.
#3, is kind of redundant to #1. I have 4 STOP centers on one team I'm ST'ing for and absolutely love the super flexibility they give me. That's 4 Offensive positions I don't have to worry about... and 4 Defensive positions I don't have to worry about. Stamina among the remaining dots on the team seems to be much better off when you don't have to use so many on ST's... which eat stamina like a starved dog onna bone. I use them in the Back Wedges... Punt Protectors on punt returns... long snappers... all that good stuff. They can block and tackle (well enough) and have enough speed and agility to be highly effective ST players.

Some folks like some of the STOP defensive positions... and I probably should consider them... but I get everything I need from STOP centers for only 100 cost per build.

Everything the Coyote said is valid - but it depends a bit on what kind of STOP you want.

eg If you want a pure Gunner, and dont mind mind paying for a 200 flex dot, then a SS or a DE can be very good because of their SA tree.
If you go that route, then it is better not to use the Special Teamer archetype, and use the combo types instead, as they have 4 majors and blocking is not a requirement.

Horses for courses.

SS is shit. Go with LB or DE. Weight factors in a ton.

Our HH LB STOPs are already killing the lower levels and they're still missing equipment upgrades and SA investment.
Might be unfair soon.

And building for returns is a waste. Go for FFums.

So if i'm building 4 STOPs

What should I build them

HH or Gunners?

Which will be more affective on STs

I would rather have 4 STOP's. The effect on in game energy is extremely pronounced to the point where as an OC and DC I'd rather have dots with energy when they play than a 7th CB or 4th DT or 7th LB, or 2nd QB, or 3rd FB, or 6th WR, etc.

As for the OP.
You really should consider Weight and SA's.
For Gunners, DE's, DT's, and LB's are the best due to weight and Monster Hit.
If you make a blocking focused STOP, they should still have 80+ tackling, and the only blocking SA's you might consider are pancake, or Get Low. Honestly, from watching blocking STOP's, pancake is a waste, especially since you'll most likely be in the back wedge or a PP, so For Blocking STOP's, again you want to consider weight when you do this, but I'd honestly still go with a DE, or C for a blocking focused STOP. There really aren't any good SA's for a blocking focused STOP, and I'd suggest that every STOP should be FFum focused with no blocking, or ~48-60 blocking for a FFum focused dot that can block, or 78-82 blocking for a 2 way STOP. Nothing more than 80 blocking is really necessary though, and more than that is harming your utility on ST's.

Ideal positions for STOP.
C, DE, DT, LB
Decent but not as good
OG, OT
Passable but not ideal
SS, FS, FB, TE
Retire now
CB, WR
What Are you... I don't even
QB, HB

Gotta remember that your team is a non-boost team and won't be around for long enough to get to SA trees and multiple pieces of AEQ. So I wouldn't count on FFums unless you changed your mind and are keeping it for more than 3-4 seasons

Prob will keep it longer. I get all the flex back except from team ownership.
