Has anyone trained jumping and had an increase in [diving] tackles?

I often times see the RB squirt through the hole -- not just against me, but others, too -- and wonder if a higher skill in jumping would increase the chance of making a diving stop.

I haven't trained this at all and I don't think I've seen an open build that has any points, either. Wonderin' if it could have a positive impact.

don't. i've never once worked on jumping, i think its like 12 or something, but get a buttload of diving tackles. i think that it could help a little bit, but enough that it is worth working. esp if ur a DT, i'd just concentrate on STR, AGI, VIS

It would help for tipping passes though.

I would wait until you tried it to tell someone not to. Unless you read it in another threat where someone else HAS tried it.

For all you know, you could have had 10 more diving tackles had you worked on jumping. The diving tackles are often from large distances and not easy to follow on the play by play.

i wasn't saying that it wouldn't help diving tackles. i was trying to say that DT and more importantly NT's have bigger concerns than diving tackles.

I'm actually working on this kind of build that focuses.

I entend to have all equip set for agil, with a foucus in Pass rush.

Strength: 40____Blocking: 15
Speed: 30_____Tackling: 25
Agility: 55_____Throwing: 8
Jumping: 30
Stamina: 28
Vision: 35
Con: 20

first step 5_____swat ball 7
change D 6_____swall 3
shed block 7_____SB 4
TV 5_____DT 5

Currently the build is only level 9 and it really needs to be 16 before it begins to reach the above numbers. I hope by the end of next season to see how sacrificing str and speed for special abilities works out.

In my experience diving tackle with trained up jumping does have a positive effect.

Does jumping have any correlation with avoiding being cut blocked? Seems like I get cut blocked a whole lot, and its rather annoying.

I would think it would help w/ explosion off of the snap.

Eh, thats agility. Jumping implies leaving the ground, and if a D-Linesman is leaving the ground ont he snap, he is going to be easily redirected since he has nothing planted on the ground.

In the real world you and tests someone's explosion by their jumping ability. That's why it gets tested at the NFL combine. I don't know if it translates to this game, but in the real world having hops is a very good thing.

I would think NT and DT would want to explode into the OL. With good jumping and agility that would kick ass.

Maybe if you're diving headfirst into the blocker's chest and taking yourself out for the rest of the play.

I have not been sold one way or another if it hurts or helps. I might train it up to 15 to see if it has any effect, but I will not be putting any XP points into it.

If jumping can affect punting then there is nothing stopping it being part of the equation at the line of scrimmage.

I wouldn't work on it for a DT/NT though. I would work on it for a DE as much for the diving tackle aspect as anything else.

I saw a DT with 30 something jumping and he had like 14 PD's over season 3.
