Wouldn't mind seeing a special teams tackle category for special teams somewhere or a STOPS FA market. But I've seen those suggestions before. What I really would love as a special teams coordinator is to be able to compare the differences of special teams with the rest of the league. I think adding a special teams stats thing in the matchup comparisons would be great. It could include Punt return yardage, punt return TD's, punt return yardage allowed, punt return tds given up. And the same thing for kickoff. Give special teams coordinators more meaning, this might go a long way in helping that happen.

Yeah, it is the only catagory where it show the yards for, but not the yards given up.

+1 to improving ST in any/all ways. and to more stats being recorded in general for ST dots in player stats/game box scores and team/conference/league pages.

but for the specific items in the OP:

--ST tackles are recorded in box scores apart from overall tackles (which include both D and ST--and offense for that matter on turnovers). What would be nice if those tackles (and anything else ST related) showed up when you click on a game from the agent homepage instead of "0 pancakes" which is all the majority of STOPs ever see.

--ST archetypes can be found in the Marketplace, but the change that's needed is to be able to search "position" as "null" or "all" since multiple positions can have the ST archetype and be roughly similar dots. Or at least be able to control-click to highlight more than one position.

it would be even more LOL than most of what's on the matchup comparison pages now (which is like 50% dictated merely by how your depth chart is set up). there's really no valid way to combine what's actually 9 or so disparate elements that make up special teams into one rating and compare that between two teams. Suppose two teams are roughly equal in all ST areas except one has a kicker who is exceptional at deep kick offs and the other team has a squad that is especially adept at covering punt returns. How could you possibly rank those or make a good comparison. You'd have to break it down to at least 2 (you have ball/they have ball) and probably more like 6 or 8 ST sub-functions to be meaningful.

How about creating a STOP position in the drop down box where all STOP Archetypes are put into when entering the market despite that fact they actually play multiple positions.

I'd like to see the special teams stats in the full season stats when you look there.

Im pretty sure all it needs is some formula that uses yards gained, allowed, tds, and attempts to come up with some sort of score that can project a special teams rating as a whole. You don't need to give and more value to kickoffs over punts or anything like that because special teams is a yardage game and about putting the opposing team as far away from your goal as possible or as close to theirs as possible every change of possession. Seems like a simple enough task to me that way, but then again I wouldn't be the one who had to do the coding and work for that.

ST has needed improving for 36 seasons. I thought I remembered at some point they were going to do more for ST, but nothing ever came of it. An overall ST rating would be useless, just like all of the other lolbars. But giving us stats to see if they give up many TDs, or score many would be a huge help. But any useful changes to ST are NGTH.
