I'm finishing a scat back FB. I go to the store and I am looking for scat back or +3 speed. I spent 45 BTs and never got it. Now I have to pay full price which means one less piece of AE.

It's bad enough that real time and real money go into building a player and we have to depend on luck in the store, but why would I want equip like tackling, big hit and monster hit for my scat back FB?

Would it be that difficult to streamline these selections a little bit? Especially for players over level 64.

You don't HAVE to roll the dice with the store. If Bort did what you're asking to do, nobody would EVER build their own pieces.

"Tackling" and "Big Hit" are the Casino equivalent of "Sorry, play again"--what difference does it make whether a losing play of the equipment slot machine says "Big Hit" versus saying "Sorry, play again"?

Then call it a casino or a scam, not a store.

Its always interesting to see the number of folks who will pile into threads like this one to admit they don't understand probability analysis.

Its not a "scam" anymore than a real casino is a "scam". Its all about determining whether you have enough "room" in terms of available BTs to shop for a few tries. If you do, shop away--I usually do so myself. But I have a hard limit set where that if I don't get a usable piece, I'm out--and I have enough BTs available to complete the build regardless.

Thank you for pointing out the obvious and not detracting from my point - that a little streamlining is needed. Luck is one thing and I can see having crappy equipment at the lower levels even. But the ability to have a top player shouldn't be based as much on luck ESPECIALLY when I am paying for this player AND his boosts AND his CE.

If I wanted a to play a slot machine I wouldn't be here.

AND if it is going to be so luck-oriented, how about making it like a real slot machine and have some huge upside?

Right now the best I can do is spend 3 BTs to be able to buy a 75 BT piece of AE for about 29 BTs. WOO FRICKING HOO!!!!

I understand it just fine, doesn't mean I think it is correct. When you build a piece, are you not actually buying a piece? Don't you click on the buy eq button. That is the real store. The Advance store is anything but a store.

That is a huge savings. But I do wish that you could get pieces that you cannot buy, like in the olden days where you could get a 5% make tackle and 5% force fumble on the same piece. Maybe that is overkill, so lower it to 3% each. Can you imagine a 3% break tackle/spin piece? Make the gamble truly worth the risk.

How cool would an actual equipment slot machine be?

I agree but with serious upside. Slot machines are based on RNGs, so they are random, but they also have to pay out a guarenteed % over X number of spin. No one drops $150 into a $5 slot machine hoping to win $30-$50.

Guess you've never been to Vegas/Atlantic City/etc.

There is definitely strategy involved in rolling, and you took a negative route honing in to get scat back or +3 speed on a FB. If the store was a given there wouldn't be any point to crafting the pieces outright. It's risk/reward to some extent.

The point isn't that it shouldn't be luck. The point is that it should be tweaked or have more reward for the risk.

If you go into the store at level 30, there is typically pure crap and very few selections. So you wait and you plan for what you expect that your 'luck' in the store will cost you. Now you're at level 70, for example, if you don't get what you planned for then your build could be screwed.

So the only way to to make this a more level playing field is to make a higher percentage of relevant pieces available.

.....and a scat back FB has speed as a major and he is a scat back, so why is this a negative route?
