Assuming you have the requisite number of human dots to avoid THAT particular penalty, which would you prefer when setting your roster/filling out the depth chart?

* CPU dot
* Decently built human dot, but playing mildly out of position (because you already have their "regular" position filled)--such as a FS playing SS or a Guard playing OT
* Imperfect built dot--one whose effective level is a couple levels below the league average and/or a couple of levels below their numerical level

Generally #3, at least for defense. A good scheme can work even with questionable dots.

#2 if dot #3 is 5-10% worse.

How do you define 5-10% worse. I hope you're not taking spv, it's too top heavy.

As for the OP, I'd agree 3 is usually the best option. Depending on the position and whether or not the dot you are talking about is a back up, sometimes the best option is to leave yourself short handed and play with a low energy great dot.

Don't know, there is no way to see their build, only Bort knows what he has on some of those dots.

avoid 1 ....

for 2 , the oopp for the substitutions you've shown is minimal ..... acceptance (or not) by the affected agents would be a major consideration ..... performance can be adequate enough to win in some leagues ....

3's (3a) performance with an underleveled/improperly boosted dot can be very similar to 2 ....

3's (3b) performance with a dot a couple of levels below their numerical level , does not have to be a problem as long as they are boosted properly ...

so similar to the first answer , 3b would be the best answer

Weighted attribute value calculation is one way to do it. In that case you can simply add up all of the attributes multiplied by their weighted values and then compare the two. NB: this doesn't work at most later levels where dots are adding SAs and have their %AEQ.

You can usually eyeball a dot and compare the builds to determine value.

Depends on what you mean by imperfect dots.

This kind of imperfect: http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=2595911

Or this kind: http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=2534927

This. A human dot always outperforms a CPU dot
