I've run the VPB and it appears that a player started mid-season can never hit level 79. It could be the VPB? But because I haven't started a player mid-season that I planned to keep since about season 3 I have no idea if this is true and I can't kind any info on it in the Wiki.

I certainly haven't touched the VPB for this scenario but remember there are catch up boosts. A dot can boost up to 6 times on day 281 (capped at lvl 79 obviously)

Correct. As long as you're Level 73 on Day 281, you can hit Level 79 using the 6 Plateau Boosts.

prob people who join GLB dont know any better to wait til the offseason. I know if I was new the the game and joined say day 18, I wouldnt know. Id make my players right then.

Yep, and the chances of a new player keeping the first dot they build mid season to plateau are 0, as they will constantly be told to retire and re-build between days 40 and 48

Yes and I am none of those people. As long as a player can hit level 79 that's good for me. I it's just that the VPB doesn't allow it?
