Step 1.) Stop saying "1337."
Step 2.) Find and use AngryDragon's old Special Teams guide... not because it's correct, but rather because it's a good jumping-off point.
Step 3.) After watching your ST units get embarrassed for a few games following AngryDragon's guide, start identifying your weak spots on Special Teams and work on shoring them up. If dots are getting pancaked, replace them with stronger dots. If dots are too slow, replace them with faster dots. Etc., etc.
1. Get two or three STOPs 2. Have your BFB and BTEs use the special teamer VA. 3. Have some of your back up OL use the special teamer VA. 4. Put your STOPs in the BW/PP then work from faster/smaller on the outside to bigger/slower on the inside. 5. Use one gunner at IN4/SE2 and other hard hitter defensive dots at OU2 and 6 and your other SE/SB spots.
Done. Having a high quality ST unit is more about being willing to dedicate some dots/VAs to that unit than it is to any particular strategy or skills. You can manipulate the way a dot moves to an extent by using dots of different speeds on coverage, but in the end it really comes down to having dots that are built to ST well.

What LHF said. Probably more useful than what I said, to be honest.
