In terms of what a DB targeting INTs should have, you absolutely cannot abandon the staples. You still have to play coverage and it's not like you are going to get an INT every time. That means you should still invest in Swat Ball, Superior Vision, Change Direction, Zone Focus for safeties etc.
Not totally sure but I think ti has to do with the "progression of the play". I seem to remember in Q&A several questions on this subject (various questions concerning passing, catching, and intercepting of same) that there's a "deflection check"... then a "catch check"... then, depending on if it's a catch or not, a "knock loose check (if caught)"... then a "Interception check".
If that is true, that would explain why Jumping Catch doesn't seem to work for DB's since it's more of an offense related thing anyways. I have had very good success with Long reach though (as far as helping increase my INT's and PD's).
