In real life, if a QB is repeatedly hit as he throws, it takes a toll on him physically as well as mentally (he starts hearing those footsteps). But in GLB as long as he isn't sacked, and has enough confidence not to feel hurry pressure*, there isn't any repercussions to getting repeatedly hit by defenders and nearly sacked.

There should be some kind of SMALL morale and/or energy penalty on plays where the blitzers repeatedly make contact with the QB just as he throws.

Other positions have things like pancakes and revcakes that do morale and/or energy damage in situations beyond someone being tackled-- QB's being hit over and over is probably more damaging than any interactions where a C and NT are knocking each other around. A QB being battered by a blitzer could be treated by the sim just like someone being pancaked/revcaked.

Maybe have it so that when Turn the Shoulder fires it negates this penalty. The QBs strength, confidence and other build factors could also minimize it.

I'd even support adding a "roughing the passer" penalty as part of this. Blitzers can "pancake' the QB as he's throwing, but have a small chance of being flagged in some way. I know new penalties are probably NGTH though


*side note- the last round of changes to being hurried went way too far in the QBs favor IMO

Have you ever watched a dot constantly hurried? He looks frazzled regardless of what is coming until he makes a big play or 2.

if there's something coded for that its triggered by sacks and hurries--I'm suggesting something for when you can see the dots make contact (the QB taking a hit) even if a sack isn't made or a hurry felt

I would be happy with the Player's getting the Hurries it looks like they should get and don't sometimes, lol.

+1 to this too, its because changes were made to how QBs feel hurry pressure...you can be right on top of a QB and if they have enough confidence it somehow doesn't effect their mechanics, which logically it still should. the build of the blitzer (do they have enough tackling/strength to reasonably be expected to make the sack) plays a part too, which it should, but that also seems overly generous to the QB--even if a six year old was clinging to the QBs legs it would at least disrupt his ability to throw accurately.

For many seasons, back in the day, I supported adding more penalties to make the game more "realistic". Not anymore. In fact, we should probably get rid of the 2 we do have. Reason? Just how many "Fix the penalties" threads do you guys wanna have to deal with? I'd bet the over on 300 easy. It just adds more work for the coders... more bugs for the bugs mods... and more griping from the players. And the 2 we have already don't really add anything positive to the game AND are unequal in their distribution (Much more false starts than off-sides). So even though I "might" support the OP... I damn sure don't want any "penalty" added.

OP isn't really asking for another penalty. But his explanation for wanting something more to take a toll on the quarterback is clearly a penalty against the defense.

not sure if you mean penalty as in a flag or penalty as in a negative to the QB.

what I'm saying really is that there are many plays, both in real life and in GLB, where the pass rusher legally makes contact with the QB ("hit as he throws")... in GLB there are plays like that that don't seem to adversely effect the QBs performance. I suggest that is should in some way, after repeated hits, in order to add realism to the game AND to offset some of the changes that were made to how QBs feel hurry pressure, which are overly generous to QBs IMO

no, against the offense. the QB should be worn down (physically and mentally) by repeated "hit as he throws" batterings

Can you show me just one of these in GLB that isn't a sack/hurry/or turn shoulder?

so.... u r asking for a stamina/confidence penalty for qbs if they get hit? thats all i got from the op

you could just as equally argue that the defense or the would-be sacker should get a similar hit to morale/energy if the QB takes such a hit, but completes the pass anyhow ... Elway made a career out of doing that
