I feel stupid for even asking this. I'm supposed to be the Special Teams coordinator for a team I'm involved with and when I tried to scout I only see options for Offense and Defense. I didn't see any option for Special Teams formations either so I can't just filter the analysis. How do I analyze Special Teams plays from games that were played and edit tactics?

ST's is primarily just having the right dots in the right spot. There is no actual AI for ST's.

Somebody told me I can look at various returns to see what works etc. but I can't figure out how. For that matter, I can't figure out how to edit the Special Teams players or anything like that either. I'm such a noob at this game.

If you're trying to set up your kickoff coverage and punt coverage teams, just pull up all of the plays for your Punter and all of the plays for your Kicker.

If you're trying to set up your kickoff return and punt return teams, just pull up all of the plays for your opponent's Punter and your opponent's Kicker.

To pull up all of the plays for any given player in any given game, just scroll down on the Box Score page of the game in question, find the player, and click on the little sheet of paper icon next to their name.

For that, you need to go to your team's Depth Chart tab, then click on the tab for Special Teams.

If it's not there, then it means the team owner forgot to give you the proper access, and you need to PM the team owner to fix that.

PM sent. I still use AngryDragon's ST's guide. If anyone has an updated guide, please forward it on to Guch.

Use that guide with caution. Not everyone sets up outside like is explained in the guide. Have to look at your opponent's ST depth charts.

I should have stated that I use that as a "guideline" and not 100% to the letter, but it is a good starting off point.

Mea culpa. I should have been more specific when I told you that. Anyone have access to send him the invite to the private ST forum? I posted but it sounded like he had not gotten an invite yet.

Same here. I too have found that it doesn't work too well on its own, but it works great as a starting point, and then I make adjustments from it. Better than starting from nothing.

I'll give you a fun trick for your kickoff coverage unit. Excuse me if my OU2 and OU5 are switched. Posting from my phone and too lazy to open another tab to double check.

OU2/OU5/IN4 are the three slots that go unblocked and are left to deal with the back wedge. The trick is to have your OU2 be slightly faster than your OU5/IN4. Ideally what happens (depends where the kick goes) is your speedy high 150 to 160 guy attracts two members of the back wedge towards his lonesome self. That gives one of the two of your 140-150 speed guys (with higher strength and FF capability) a high momentum shot at the kick returner.

Personnel wise, avoid easily revcaked/pancaked dots. Don't fall into the trap of dumping low strength CBs or WRs on your units. Likewise avoid having dline slugs on your coverage units.
