hey - Is it advisable/beneficial to have slightly different QB settings if I have both passing archetypes or is it enough to sustitute thru the OAI and let the "archetype" and/or build to give a varied pass type ?

Generally yes, not because of Archtype alone though. More due to build. Strength is usually a big factor to how I set QB tactics.

Strength as in attribute strength or throw strength?

When would I want to stop putting skill points into throwing and start putting it into strength? Or would vision be next?

Eh...QB tactics are more about trajectory and timing than attribute based. Only unless it is extreme build deficiency would dialing down a bullet setting be better suited for a more proper pass quality. (like say an RQB with terrible throwing)
Otherwise the only reasons you should be messing around with your bullet style is:
Trajectory - Too many bats at the line? Lower your bullet setting. Throws coming up low often or getting picked from behind often? Lower your bullet setting. Not getting balls to your targets fast enough. Raise the bullet setting.
When it comes to Open Man vs. Route Distance. It seems you have to really push it one way or another to get the results to really make sense. You want fakes and bombs to really play a part in your plan? Head towards route distance. The only problem with that is pass blocking. Making the choice to hold onto the ball longer plays into a DC's hands. There is a point in the Route Distance side where you do hold onto the ball too often. I played around with it for a season in pro when I was just throwing the ball around the ICECOLD ! deep every play. While fun it also leads to more sacks. I generally recommend the open man side and I have been sitting on 100 Open Man with all my QB's for a long time.

The only trouble I found with 100 open man is that 90% of my passes were behind the line of scrimmage and resulted in a tackle for loss by the corner.

You definitely have to control that behavior w/ your progressions.

Thanks Coach! Make sense, really thought Strength played more of a roll in Bullet though. I'm with you on OM v. RD, I've always thought 100 OM was the way to go.

Absolutely. That is more hurry pressure than anything and if you have those HB's/FB's as the first progression that is what is going to happen.

They are never the first progression. I have it set to check down as normal. Still happens. It still happens with receivers too.

Oh you have Dump Pass settings on your QB? I don't use those so that might be why it never happens to me except the first progression.

I do not. No SA's yet. Just starting out. All my points are on throwing and just starting to multi train.
