I'm tempted to save my 3 boosts until we play our first difficult opponent (5th game of this season), continue stashing SPs, train my secondary attribute and then boost/softcap. It's been a while since I built a dot from scratch, so is this the wrong way to go about doing things? Previously, it seemed that the longer you held off on boosting, the more XP/SPs you would end up with at the end of your build. Is that still the case or should I go ahead and boost on D1 of the season?

This.

If you're really impatient, at least wait until after Game 16 has played and then boost for the playoffs. Won't hurt you too much.

If you boost up right now, you're wasting some really efficient early training gains, and that could hurt you long-term.

Haha, loooooong break. Built my first dots in S1 and then dove back in about a year ago without really looking at what I was doing. Ended up doing okay, but not amazing. Would like to not repeat the same mistakes I made with my second batch.

Thanks. I figured that was the case, but then I saw a lot of new dots already at L7 and figured they might know more than I do. I'll wait until the end of the season.

This. Amazing how many people do that.

Their money, I guess....

Boosting early to keep capping in sync with your training is fine as long as you know what you reasons are. If you are one of the people who likes to intense train a single dot for most of the first season you can actually get better training gains by doing this. If you like to multi train as soon as possible then there is more incentives to keep the ALGs off of your 2-3-4 attributes for as long as possible.

The majority of my dots get boosted some time between day -2 and day 30, but it is always about capping and not about the outcome of games. If you're building for long term you will generally get trounced by teams who are building for rookie gold anyway so it's best not to get hooked into that game.

Best place for an early boost is when you are trained up and ready to cap a stat, but the next level up will leave you 1 point short of capping (or the next two levels would leave to 2 points short of capping), getting the extra point from the boost can be really handy.

But don't just boost for the half season of rookie league greatness, that in itself is not worth it. Hell, in super math land my way might never be the way to go, but it works for me and my dots are usually above average in WL.

Ya, I don't live in super math land, but I can understand the concept that deferred gratification = better dot.

Or if you are hitting good caps imo

Yeah I found out a few seasons ago, boosting to 7 early is a big no no.

Not only do countless owners in rookie bitch for the ENTIRE season until everyone else catches up,
but its pretty bad for training longer term.
