I know you are able to send a comment through contract offerings, but I believe there should be an option to choose which string you would place this player if signed.

This gives the player a better idea of what situation he wants to be in when choosing a contract, without having to conversate back and forth with multiple owners. Maybe a potential penalty to owners who violate this "promise"

Thoughts?

...which right there makes your Suggestion unnecessary, but anyway....

No. First of all, no truly good owner promises starting spots anyway. And second of all, even if I did, if the dude turned out to be a prick and took off all his equipment or something in a dispute over play-calling, I would need the ability to remove him from the roster for the good of the rest of the team, whether that would mean demoting him, benching him, or cutting him. Being automatically penalized for that would just be asinine.

Maybe a Projected Position Chart like 4-3 RDE or 3-4 OLB for hybrid DE and LB's kindda like they do for Draft Prospects coming out of the Draft? Or Run Stuffing LDE or Pass Rushing DT? I think the OOP Penalty should be nerfed some so Coaches can experiment more with shifting Player's around.

Or you could swap a message or two with the owner before picking a team. Be a lot fewer unhappy Agents if they did so before taking contracts.

This. This this this. THIS. A thousand times this.

I've never signed one of my dots with a bad team, and there've been plenty of times when I've put my dots out there for open recruiting. All blind offers get deleted immediately. If the owner sends me a PM that looks like it was written by a 6-year-old, I delete it and reject the offer. If an owner seems decent, I swap PMs with him a few times just to make sure my initial impression was correct, and I also research his team a bit on my own. There've been a couple of times when somewhere in that process, something started to feel wrong, and I ended up backing out and signing with a different team instead.

When someone posts a complaint thread in GLB Main that starts with "Owner X promised me a starting spot so I signed with him, and now I'm just on Special Teams," I just want to highlight the first part before the comma and reply, "That was your first mistake." No good owner makes that promise in the first place. They're either lying and will break that promise if it's convenient to do so, or they're incompetent and will keep an inferior dot in a starting role even if they're sucking hard simply because, "Well, I promised!"

Owners shouldn't make those promises, and agents shouldn't BELIEVE those promises.
