every page on GLB (and not anywhere else i've yet seen) gives me thing at the top saying Firefox does not allow this page to automatically reload" or somethign like that. Assuming this is a browser setting problem and not something with GLB--but anyone know how to fix?

I haven't heard of this issue yet Fogie, have you tried clearing your cookies/cache?

clears both every time I close FF and the message comes up even when GLB is the only site I've visited, so probably not anything with cookies or cache. GLB is still the only place I've seen this message. but if it hasn't happened to anyone else its puzzling. anyone else using FF 20.0.1 on a Windows 7 Ult. system?
actual text, inside a bar atop screen, says "Firefox prevented this page from automatically reloading" then there is a choice to "allow". I can just ignore it, click allow or close the dialog.
Mozilla help page says its because of option that says "Warn me when websites try to redirect or reload the page" which sounds like something I would want to keep on, right? reloading I don't have a problem with, I guess, but redirecting? not sure I'd want that happening without me knowing. And again, GLB seems to be the only place this happens.

When is the last time you ran something like malwarebytes or adaware? Or even an AV program. You might have some malware or spyware that is trying to redirect you off GLB.
What you could also try, if you don't think it's that, is holding down the control key and hitting f5. That would force a fresh reload of the page you are on and might fix formatting issues.

I've had problems also after upgrading FF ..... security features also have been a factor ....
otherwise , I don't ever close but let the comp pwr down .... occasionally , I have to restart to speed up the action .... .... can't tell you what to do except that it can be like GLB and your input has to be per your specs ....
I've used Chrome or IE occasionally when FF was being a beech

This reply needs more attention. I think this is the most likely culprit, especially in cases where only one person seems to be having a problem. That practically SCREAMS "malware infection" to me.

we have had confirmations from users running 20.0.1 who are not running into these issues. Are you sure you aren't running an old script that could be causing errors?

i ran antivirus and spyware stuff (both of which are running all the time anyway) and no issues there. plus I would highly doubt there's any malware of any kind that ONLY targets GLB pages. nothing else is effected so far.
turned off greasemonkey and everything else that could be causing problems and made exceptions for GLB for all adblock type stuff. still getting the message. its not really hindering anything, but it keeps popping up.
found this: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Accessibility.blockautorefresh "Web pages (and web servers) can ask a browser to automatically refresh a page after a given timeout by including the HTML element <meta http-equiv="refresh"> or by sending a Refresh: HTTP header. This can be helpful (as in the case of a webpage whose content is updated constantly) but it also can be irritating."
would seem to indicate its something inside GLB code or GLBs server's that's doing this--but wouldn't explain why no one else is having the problem. Could it be something with incompatibility of a of new version of browser running on older version of windows?
also, other users may not have the problem if they don't have the blockautorefresh option selected. could someone running FF 20.0.1 with Windows 7 try it? Go to Tools, Options, Advanced, then select "warn me when websites try to redirect or reload the page"
my tech knowledge is all 15 years out of date, so thanks for the feedback so far and would appreciate any advice.

Well, I'm not running FF 20. When I updated it was to 19. FF hasn't asked for an update for 20 on my pc yet. Hmm.

Unfortunately, there are, in fact, malware programs that pay attention to your browsing history and then only affect the site you spend the most time on, in order to trick people into thinking precisely what you're thinking: "Well, it only happens on one site, so it can't be a virus! Must be something this site is doing."
Never underestimate the sneakiness and treachery of malware writers.
