Look I might be an a$$ here...ok it was OK every now and then getting build help...but now I feel there is an over abundance of build asking on this forum...granted I check and never post but still...there is a forum completely dedicated to build specifics...can we just debate the HB stuff instead of being flooded with "how is my lvl ___ HB like I feel like nowadays?

I was just thinking the same thing, it's getting pretty obnoxious. Take that shit to rate my player and stop trashing this section of the forum.

I believe that this is what it says under the Position talk forum thread

"Discuss strategy, builds, and stats related to the different GLB positions"

I would think people asking for advice about their player, is EXACTLY what this forum is designed for.

The thread about elusive/combo/power backs is a great example of a build discussion. Any thread that discusses the successes and failures of builds, what attributes affect what SA's, or experiments and findings are great. Those are discussions, those are the kind of threads people should be READING and posting relevant questions in rather than just asking for build help.

There is TONS of advice and knowledge out there for those who are willing to read, and I've rarely found it in poorly disguised "rate my build" threads.

Those kind of threads you are referring to are almost worthless. The one you're talking about has turned into a pissing contest about who has the best back. yea, that's a super informative thread.

I really hate the fact that people like you guys are so adamant about something that doesn't even concern you. Don't want to help someone out with their build? DONT READ THE THREAD!!

Put the thread in the right section and it won't be a problem. It's pretty clear that your earlier post was just a set up since you intended to ask your own "Rate My Build" question shortly after.

And my other post served my purpose of getting people to cry about it. Believe me, I'm not that transparent.

I don't see any problems with it either. If you don't like a thread, don't read it. By hearing people's comments on each other's builds, you can quickly get a pretty good idea of what exactly a good build looks like. And the RB forum should be exactly the place where we can go to get advice from other owners of RB's.

Don't you get it, you don't ask questions about builds here, you discuss running backs. And, when you discuss running backs, you can't mention skills used in a build - well, that is unless it's involved with a subject not involving builds. But, then you need to make sure you don't mention your RB - err, you can mention your RB, you just can't talk about any of his specific skills. That's what the rate my player is for. Unless, of course, you want to talk about specific aspects of HBs in general, then you can mention specific skills as long as you don't mention the name of your HB's right tackle.

This is so simple, when are people going to understand the distinction between these fourms! I mean, come on - millions of kittens die every time someone posts a build question in these position forums!

But, if people do have specific questions about their build that are HB related (ie, why doesn't headfake work more?) and they boost their build, I don't see an issue with that.

Remember the first "Rate My Build" question in the main GLB forum? I swear it wasn't two days later and the place was flooded. It would be a shame if this section ended up that way.

We're in the same page.

Generic "fix my build" questions are the problem. I think "my HB is doing [...]", here's how he's built, here are some examples of where he's stumbling is a specific question. Specific questions are great.

Seriously - ignore the post. The sub-header says to discuss builds. I understand that there is a rate my player forum, but I was hoping to get advice from people who knew a thing or two about halfbacks.

It's for asking a guy who owns a QB to evaluate the build of your RB.

I feel there is a difference between build discussion (what skills have what effect, what your desired effect is, etc) and "rating" a player.

If I were to say "Here is my Level 11 powerback, where should I put his next 5 points", to me that is a "rate my player" kind of post.

Now, if I were to open it up and be like

"Hey, I've got a Level 11 HB, who I originally created for PB purposes and since decided to model after Steven Jackson. Now, his strength seems to be alright, but I'm debating on whether or not to hit the soft cap. Thoughts? Also, it's a toss up on whether I should move my focus to speed, or agility. I'm going more for the YPC and less for "BIG PLAYS, ALL DAY" type mentality. I figure he'll bust one sooner or later. Toss out some suggestions, ideas, thoughts. Might shed some light on an alternate direction"

That would be a more "discuss build" type scenario.
