As a DC, I'm frustrated that to defend the 1WR sets (big-I), my options are put 2 CBs on the field...or go to a 5DT goalline set.

There needs to be a middle ground D

2 DEs
2 DTs
4 LBs
1 SS
1 FS
1 CB

Silly...

I'm not sure I would call a play in which you had a tackle attempt in the backfield "fuel".

Especially one in which the RDE missed one of the several tackles there.

true, but still I'll +1 anything that gives DCs more flexibility.... I'm still waiting for some 1-1-9 formations or maybe a nickel safety set...

every season the O seems to get more and more "fixes" that make it harder for the D given the constraints it has

yeah, that FS should be a LB...and the CB in the FS position? Yeah, that should be a FS.
