Looks like a blitz. Either the AI forced the cb to play off because of it, or the cb in question has his tactics to play a couple yards back.

My CB doesen't do that and I run 70%Man/30%Zone playing close with focus on pass plays.It might be you had your focus on Run plays and fooled by playing plays more easy.He drops back looking in the backfield at the back to see what he's doing and before you know it the WR's open for a 10 yard gain.
