we need to add something that we can check or say under what circumstances the team will go for it on 4th down. I don't know if anyone else has gone through this stressful question: 'why didn't we go for it?' and this addition to GLB will be beneficial in my opinion.

I agree, even with full AI, the amount of 4 downs people go for in lolRegular is a joke and not resembling real football. They should really restrict it even in the full AI like they do with 2 pt conversions.

huh?

personally, i love when idiots go for it on 4th and one from their 20 and give us a free TD when
Fugly Mugg tackles them for an 0.5 yd gain; i can just imagine the bewildered look on their clueless faces!

My point was that in any real football game, no one is going for it on 4th & short on their own 20 unless it is desperation time, but it happens a ridiculous amount in the regular leagues. While you may feel you have a grasp on shutting them down, I would still venture to guess the success rate is extremely high (especially at the higher levels) and the amount of attempts is far higher than it should be in order to resemble realistic football.

Maybe it is the liberal in me, but I like the restrictions on 2 pt conversions. Not because it saves people from their own mistakes by not letting them go for it whenever they want, but because it more resembles real football. Much like the 2 pt conversion, I would be in favor of GLB putting restrictions on when and where teams can go for it on 4th down in order to make the game more realistic.

Not the point. Going for it on every 4th & short no matter where you are on the field is not real football. I will just stick to casual. Not a problem there.

Sometimes it's not about "stopping them"... sometimes it's other stuff. I've seen plenty of times when a team faced with a killer ST unit just doesn't wanna punt... ever. Feeling, I guess, that bad field position is a better gamble than what COULD happen if they punt. And then there's the "Killer Defense" situation where a team with a great defense doesn't punt because they feel it's a waste of time against their defense (see this in blowout games sometimes).
The worst I ever see it is in PeeWees. So many teams there don't even HAVE a punter because they know they'll never punt all season long... no matter what.
However, I don't believe a "fix" is in order... it's just a part of the game that you can choose to punt... or not. I'd be against "forcing" someone to punt just because it's not "real football-ish".
