Pass Blocking lineman have a penalty against the pancake ability, and are not built to knock over the opposing defenders.

Why not add another statistic to o-line to recognize them for outstanding blocks that lead to a touchdown, especially in the passing game when holding long blocks, or redirecting the defender in an outstanding way to protect the QB.

Just a thought for those all-star OT that have 10 pancakes on the season but were the most effective pass blocker on the team

What defines a "great block", exactly?

Remember, the sim has to have hard numbers to crunch. It can't do subjective assessment, only objective ones.

I like where this is going.

awards for like... Least hurries allowed? Least sacks allowed? Or something like that?

Something that pass blockers would excel in that run blockers would not.

meh

Unless there were parameters included it would be hard to do. a 100% rushing team with running QB's and blocking WR's would have their O-line leading in these categories since they would never have to pass block and obviously wouldn't give up any hurries or sack.

Maybe have a minimum number of team pass attempts to qualify, or a better solution since stamina could affect it as well would be to do a ratio of least sacks allowed (or hurries allowed) per team pass attempt.

Yea I understand the subjectivity of it and also a way around the system like was mentioned with a 100% rushing team.

I just see the potential for another statistic that pass blockers would accel in like jampysos suggested, just to make a pass blocker more exciting to manage

Pass blocking archetypes can get cakes, just got to get shock block working for you.

Just a thought seeing as the 4 career stats of a lineman are

sacks allowed
hurries allowed
reverse pancakes
pancakes

its sad im rooting for mostly zeros on those stats and that's defined as good
would like to see a stat where a higher number is good
