I like 4 TEs (with the 2 TE formations.. and you can use them on ST)

Lower level defense I'd say :

2-4 DTs (3-4 or 4-3 ? Want a pass rush only or not)
4 DEs
5-6 LBs
5 CBs
4 S
2-3 STOPs (good stops are really important.)

At higher level you'll need a good numbers of CBs. LBs cannot really cover a rTE.

Having a dedicated STOP group keeps your O and D dots from getting tired from special teams.

I win a lot of games in the fourth quarter where my slow starter dots have lots of energy left because they haven't been stuck playing special teams.

I guess the question is, where am I missing dots on O and D that you think I need fewer?

Also, I use two of my STOPs as blitzing CBs as CB4. They have the tackling and speed to make hits in the back field and can knock balls loose.

It's not a case of "missing dots". It's a case of opportunity cost. It's a case of which is going to provide more value for your team.

I'd much rather have a 3rd HB or a 6th WR than a 7th STOP, as an example.

A third HB is good for some teams (I went Powerback, Elusive Back, Receiver the last time).

I don't use 4WR or 5WR sets. There are ways to use my roster without needing the third HB or extra WR. Having four TEs I use a lot more two TE and minimum one TE sets. The extra 15% to all attributes with STer and the huge boost from distance runner makes it work bette than you think.

looking at TT's team record I am inclined to say he has a point. That being said though there is no way to truly know what will happen to that same team when/if they make National Pros.

If he can make his offense work and be successful at that level (which I am actually inclined to think he can) I see no problem with him suggesting it.

Romo has a point also though, most teams it's probably better to follow the traditional method, especially if you are going to bring in an outside OC so he has all the weapons he needs to run a typical offense.

Clutch PR in the Conference Championship game:

Okay... maybe most of that was when Samus Aran turned into a ball and dropped a bomb on the defenders, but the fact that she only had to make four dots miss instead of ten shows the importance of all those STOPs. Maybe. Only 6 STOPs were on the field because my two tacklers take turns blocking on PRs because they aren't built at all for blocking.

Last time I actually had two more STOPs and they went from Pee Wee Gold to the WL and won five Gold.gifs in five back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back seasons and my KR/PR won a ton of trophies.

Once Catch killed STs his impact on the scoring diminished a bit, but I still suggest that I wouldn't have won as many games using my streaky/slow-starter O and D if my special teams hadn't kept my dots fresh and in good field position.

everything you say makes sense, the key is making your offense work with less dots. If you can figure it out, which you have, I see no reason why not to do it that way. The less your good players spend on ST is always better imo
