I'm looking to start a new Rookie/Prep team from scratch but it doesn't appear that any are available. Does anyone know if Bort releases new ones each season or do I have to hope that I see one available before it gets snapped up??

You can do a few things to get one. Buy any team and request a demotion, or wait until this off-season.

I wonder that as well. I'd like to buy that team but i don't see how.

There was a casual team I wanted to buy back in the day. I think it was Avenger's old team. Wouldn't allow the team to be purchased and it stayed CPU for at least a week. I messaged support and they said they weren't allowing it to be sold in case a GM wanted to take over the team. Eventually some dude named Sooner-something took over the team. Personally, I thought it was bullshit.

I know they like the teams to be taken over by an exiting GM. I don't know the time frame they allow.

If it's not prearranged between the owner and the GM the team should be up for sale and the players FAs. I'm not even sure about that, tbh. There have been several times I've had a dot with a team that GLB transferred ownership from one user to another and I didn't know the new owner from Adam but was stuck on the team anyway. Not to mention how exploitable it is given all the gifted accounts floating around.

a There's 3-day waiting period between a team going CPU and becoming available for purchase (during that time agents can accept offers from other teams and one of the GMs can step up and buy the team). Looks like this one went CPU yesterday, will become available on Sunday (Day 34).

Every offseason around day ~43 Bort will get new Rookie teams out for purchase.

Ummmm, buy a team now of Any Level and just demote it down to Rookie.
