It doesn't happen in all pass plays, but there are some, if you have targeted WR1 or in other WR2 it tends to throw to them no matter what. Switch up the check down and it doesn't happen.

No it's pretty inconsistent
Weak I fB smash as an example can be called 6 times in one game with wr1-fB-fb- wr2 and will go to the FB every time
But in the next game against the same exact dots and defense it will go to wr1 5 times without looking at other progressions

Ever since they changed the progression stuff maybe two seasons ago. It's very frustrating.. should think QR helps but no.
Obviously it depends on the plays, but there are quite a few plays that I used 2 seasons ago that can't be used anymore, due to the QB not progressing. I'd be using a lot of more the playbook if QBs could look beyond the first target.

i like it tbh. Leads to more int's for the guys built to do so and actually seems to lend more of a helping hand to the fake routes.

I guess it's one of those tricky things to nail because a few seasons ago it was impossible to get the QB to ever throw to the first progression without a heavy blitz.

Well that was still relatively easy to control, since you could just use WR1, WR1 or whatever. If you do that now, no chance the QB will ever progress.

i think i would agree, i'd rather be able to force him to stare at a guy myself and have the option to look around.
