I don't know if this was ever brought up before, but my idea would have 2 bars.

1 Slider bar for how often the punter/kicker kicks to his left or right side. This would go from 100% of the time kicking to the punter's/kicker's left to the opposite of 100% of the time kicking to the punter/kicker's right. A setting of zero would obviously be straight ahead. You could put the bar at for example -75. . This would say that 75% of the time the punter/kicker will kick it to the punter/kicker's left. For kickers this would only be on kickoffs and not affect FG or PAT's

2. Angle of the kick towards the sidelines: This slider would go from -45 degrees (to the left) to +45 degrees (to the right).

well, I don't really see any advantages other than confusing GLB newbies... if we add this, we should also add a kicking accuracy attribute.

If this were implemented, low level leagues would have no kick return stats.
All you would have to do at the low levels is crank it to one side or the other and kick it past the returners and they will have to chase it down and give the kickoff team too much time to get down the field.

There are a number of attributes that lead to kick accuracy, so that is unnecessary.

1. At the lower levels it would still depend on the build of the kicker, the returner and the STOPS (and the ST coordinators) to see how effective directional kicking would be.
2. At what lower levels do you have a kicker booming it past the returner anyway.

I have a built a MVP returner (finished 2nd in his 1st season and won it in his 2nd), an MVP kicker (won it in his first season) and punters who have amassed numerous conference/league awards. I see this a a way to make special teams a little more interesting and having the punter and kicker position a little more important. Also you would truly see who the really special returners are. How many punters and kickers tried to kick away from Deion Sanders and Devon Hester and they STILL were able to take it to the house.

As for "confusing the newbies" can it be any more confusing than the QB positon and sliders and settings for tactics?

It happens all the time in Pee Wee & Rookie. It's not even really a boom, at most it slides 10-15 yards past the returner because the returner couldn't close on the ball's landing spot, but yea it's common.

The solution would be that if you go to the extremes, kickoffs should go out of bounds time to time and the ball should be placed at the 40 if it so happens. Obviously at the extremes higher kicking and vision should be needed to execute the directional kicking to prevent shanking it out of bounds.

yeah, vision would obviously be necessary. real life kickers dont cover their eyes with a cloth when they kick off.

gotta improve returner pathing before you do this, otherwise +1
