I played this years ago and thought I'd give it another spin. I remember something about how you should make players on day40 or the first day of the postseason or something. But training looks all different now, so is that even a concern anymore? I want to make a player right now, but would rather wait if that's what it takes to do it right.

Best day is anytime between day 40 and day 48 (if you are going to boost to 4)

If not boosting you can wait until the last day of Pre-season.

Bort basically made it so no matter what day of offseason you create, you get the same training points as if you created on day 40.

Ugh. So basically I have to wait a month. Annoying.

Not neccessarily... create a player right now using one of your free player slots, sign it to a team just for the rest of this season only, and use the rest of this season to get used to the new training system. Play around. Try crazy stuff.

Then at the end of the season on Day 40, retire him. He's a free player, so it costs you nothing to create him and destroy him. And after you've retired him, that free-player slot is open again so you can start over with ANOTHER free player.

The rest of this season is not a waste... unless you decide to waste it.

It's a free player slot. Basically you will always be able to make a new free player when you retire the old one.

Definitely create a dot now. It's early enough there are teams that will still sign him.

Yep, like Robb said, it's a Free Player Slot. You should have two of them. And when you retire a free player, it frees up that Free Player Slot for you to create another free player.
