So, how many times should I refresh AEQ to get a good piece before giving up? I haven't really done much with AEQ under the newer system. If my dots level 35 what are the best pieces I can expect? Also, when it says +1 to an attribute along with a % of something and I upgrade it, that plus is additional to what you can upgrade to, right? And can you add the additional 3 to attributes for 50 tokens like you can we creating your own?

My piece of advice would be to wait until level 60 to roll for AEQ. Then you get more pieces to choose from.

Yeah. I just here some say to try around level 30 something and then again at higher levels. But, that still doesn't answer my questions about upgrading it.

Alright here is more specific what I'm curious about:

I have a level 52 kicker and roll these 2 pieces

+3 kicking
5% make tackle chance

Or

+3 jumping
+1 big boot

which would be better?
Can I add the +3 additional kicking for 50 more tokens after I buy this and add additional big boot enhancement; Sort of like when you build EQ and can add the +3 bonus attribute and the bonus ability?

I can build a +3 additional kicking and bonus ability... Upgrade it 7X's and end up with 10 in kicking (+3 and +7) and then +4 in big boot? Can I do that with the above pieces? So, the first piece would end up with 3+3+7 for +13 to kicking, the +5% chance for tackle (which would be like 15% or whatever after upgrades and then +4 in big boot? Or the second piece would be like +3 to jumping and +10 to kicking and plus 5 to big boot?

the best pieces to buy are plain +3 Attribute (your main attribute), or plain +5% Break/Fake/Tackle/whatever you need, or plain +1 SA you need. of course the combination of +3 attribute and +5% whatever you need is the best, but you shouldn't ever expect to get that. you look for +3 att or +5% because these pieces are upgradeable (you can upgrade the "other half" of the equipment, so a +3 Speed plain piece can become +3 Speed +5% Fake Chance for the price of 75 bonus tokens). you can not buy a +1 Speed and +5% Fake piece and upgrade it to +3 Speed +5% Fake; it's stuck as is.
yes, when you do upgrades on them (every 8 levels for the cost of 30 BTs), you can raise any attribute you want by 1, and the suffix (+% chance or +SA) will increase, +% pieces increase their % by 2% per level of upgrades, and +SA pieces increase their SA every other level of upgrades. a +3 speed +5% fake piece fully upgraded at level 72 with speed upgrades will be +13 speed +15% fake. if it had juke on it, it would have +13 speed +6 juke.

a lot of people find the best time to shop is a few times (a few = 3 to 5,) each at level 31, 41, 51, 61, 71 as you go. if you don't get anything at one point, cut your losses and wait another 10 levels to try again when rolling in the shop will yield 1 more EQ to pop up

But, that still doesn't answer my questions about upgrading it.

1. The best pieces for "your dot" vary based on what position you're interested. For your power TE, if you're building him to be a receiver you will definitely want at least one catch % piece. If he's mostly a blocker, you might want a hold block % piece. In general (and obviously) you'll want to aim for +5% pieces. You won't see those very often if you roll at level 35.

2. Do NOT buy any pieces that are +1 or +2 to an attribute. You will NOT be able to enhance that attribute to the fully-upgraded +13 attribute bonus.

3. You can only add the additional +3 attribute bonus if there was no +1, +2, or +3 bonus when you purchased it. Vice versa, you can only add a +SA or +% to a piece of equipment if you purchased a plain piece that only had an attribute bonus.

The one question you asked that I didn't see answered is this>>> So, how many times should I refresh AEQ to get a good piece before giving up?

Personally this is my approach. What will it cost to upgrade the piece to complete, or nearly complete in BT's? At 30 BT's a pop, and your player is level 52... that's 6x30 or 180 BT's. Add in the estimated cost of the purchase (I use 20 BT's for estimated cost even though I can usually get it for less cuz I agree with PEN15's post) and the estimated "possible" enhancement cost (usually 50 BT's for ading a +3 to primary skill... most expensive cost is 75 BT's for some 5% or specific SA enhancements)... and the overall cost for the one AEQ piece you're seeking to roll for is 250 BT's.

Once I get 259 BT's, I'd roll 3 times. If I got lucky (which happens more than you think), then I'm done and ready to start on my next piece (saving up the BT's again). If not, I'll wait until I have 259 (or more) BT's again. I won't roll myself below what I need to get the piece as topped off as possible (the original 250 I mentioned)... and that's how I go about it.
Someone else might have a different (or better) idea, but I've used this for many, many seasons now and it works just peachy for me.
