Maybe I am off base but our returner seems to be fair catching more often this season. He has room to run. Here are a couple of examples:

These 4 are private, but if an opponent is within 6 yards of the returner it is an automatic fair catch.

I'm not sure if some ST coaches are "short punting" on purpose or not... but short punts are the #1 cause of fair catches and poor returns. But... if you break one... it's always a TD cuz nobody left tween you and Mr. Goalline.

Since I had seen more fair catching of punts, my first initial thought was that the fair catch radius might have been tweeked. I never watched the replays of the punts that were fair caught (because there were not that many) so i really had no frame of reference. When i first looked at them, it seemed that the returner had room to run so I started a thread to see if something had changed from the previous season.
