Since I was pretty new and I saw some guy just post about this, what % of the game left glb during that season? Was there a lot of lost users that season or is it blown out of proportion?

According to some everyone left.
Personally, I don't think as many left GLB as was claimed.

I don't think it lost a ton of users but certainly started a tirade of people threatening to quit over a lost season and people wanted immediate fixes. Certainly was crushing to morale around here. The PWT was helpful though in keeping people entertained with the Csonka dominance.

The vast majority of people I saw rioting over the SI Slam were still here for S9 and beyond. It did sour some people on this game but I don't think the exodus was really all that massive. Prolly just a handful of people that were going to leave anyway.
Pro World Tournament
Think of how big a World Cup format tournament would be pre-WL.

Also, I doubt GLB lost many users that season. It was bad, but not enough to leave. Most teams weren't grinding like MEM was with Csonka. Most teams had some sort of integrity (lol).

Not really. Far as I recall at least.

Not as many users lost that season as you've managed to drive away, tbph.

lol not really. Outside of the Brazilian Waxxers (who oddly were all passing) pretty much every team resorted to slamming. Especially in the PWT and in the pro playoffs.

By making them look like chumps?
But yes, there wasn't a mass exodus. It just crushed the entire game's morale. Yes, it may have impacted the top players more, but the morale of the top players trickles down the the bottom of the barrel like Dub J and Toriq.

I remember back in Canada I had a dot with the Meltdown. We were the 1 seed and our first round opponent (I forget who it was) had spammed that shit all the way up to the playoffs but they sucked so bad and didn't really have a strong back. We had everyone in the box on defense but they came out throwing the ball downfield pretty much every play. Beat our asses pretty handily.
I'll never forget the rage of the owner and how he filled GLB main, league forum, and our team forum with it. After he was finished he sold the team back. lol
I won't mention who the owner was. I don't want to do that to the poor guy.

Of course we all went run heavy, but there were few who took it to the extremes (e.g. the games where Csonka had 60-80 rushes).
Don't take me wrong, BSB had 3 RBs that season and were probably over a combined 40 rushes/game. We also threw the ball 25+ times a game, though. Most teams did. The passing game wasnt neutered so we still used it. We still had Riverboat Gambler -> Flash Lightning/Stretch Armstrong.
