I don't watch any games at that level. Is the problem with passing, rushing, or both?

Both

Offense is non-existent at this level.

Passing is pretty tough at that level, as teams are growing away from the larger bonuses that Rookie level sees and WRs/TEs are still speed/agilty-based with terrible catch rolls.

You basically have to win by moving the ball on the ground (rushing QBs + powerbacks tend to be good). When you play a DC that knows half of what they are doing, it can be tough.

The passing is really what kills things in games like that, though.

Passing is probably the biggest problem. But when you go up against any decent DC for this level, you struggle to move the ball. Unless you have a power running game. Then you might be able to move the ball 3 yards a crack and just stay with that the whole game. Or build a team for short term success, you might be ok.

Only works against the cellar dwellers. The other 10 or so teams, not so much.

Thats why I think the Rookie level bonuses should be added to the other minor leagues and just scaled back by 10% each level until you hit Reg Pro (which would stay at 0%). I can't say first hand for Semi Pro but it wasn't much better in Nat Minors this season either when 2 evenly matched (and competent) teams play. Nothing too extreme needed but a small bump by that point & Semi Pro would really make the games more interesting to watch.

Its funny...you really see the dependency/impact that AEQ bonuses & SAs have on the sim when you don't have many of either.

Ya pretty much the extent of most the lower levels tbh. The only reason one looks any good at passing anytime prior to level 64 is generally due to large quantities of speed/stamina difference in coverage and DC's not putting any work in.

I think what Bort tends to forget when coding is that % aeq is essentially EVERYTHING in terms of the passing game and people don't maximize this until the later portions of the game.

Probably need to close the gap on the scale then. Rookie is oddly enough not too bad for passing if you enjoy watching paint dry. But Prep thru Nat Minors is really terrible.

isnt this what DCs want?
