What is your view of the Offensive Line?

If all great teams win the war in the trenches, and if this holds true in GLB, then these are some of your most important players, right?

So how do you staff them on your team?

Do you go minimalist and go with two starters at G and OT and then one back up at each type? IE 3 Guards and 3 OTs? 2 Centers?

Or do you go 2 per position and run with 2 Centers 4 Guards 2 LOT 2 ROT?

And do you think it would be advantageous to run with a pair of third stringers? 5 Guards 5 OTs and 2 Centers? So that at any position other than Center (or maybe even there using your LG(3) RG(3) at C(3) as well) you are three deep?

Would the former leave your O Line too tired? Or if you can get their stamina high enough is it worth it to free up slots?

Or is the 4 4 2 as perfect in GLB as it was for Steam Engines?

Or does a 5 5 2 give you more traction in terms of energy so that you win the war in the trenches consistently as the game goes on???

And what of special teams? Do you use your OL(2) for ST play? If so wouldnt going 5 5 2 make that even better?

Would sneaking in a STOT and STG as your G(3) and OT(3) be a workable way to generate a 5 5 2 without losing slots?

I see that some may wish to have the discussion more simplified to suit their, um, tastes.

I can accomodate that

Which, if any, of these schemes do you use or prefer and why?

The 3 3 1

LT(1) LG(1) C(1) RG(1) RT(1)
OT(2) OG(2) OG(2) OG2) OT(2)

Where OT(2) is the same dot and OG(2) is the same dot

The 3 3 2

LT(1) LG(1) C(1) RG(1) RT(1)
OT(2) OG(2) C(2) OG2) OT(2)

Where OT(2) is the same dot and OG(2) is the same dot

The 4 4 2

LT(1) LG(1) C(1) RG(1) RT(1)
LT(2) LG(2) C(2) RG2) RT(2)

The 5 5 2

LT(1) LG(1) C(1) RG(1) RT(1)
LT(2) LG(2) C(2) RG(2) RT(2)
OT(3) OG(3) ___ OG(3) OT(3)

Where OT(3) is the same dot and OG(3) is the same dot

The 5 5 2 C3

LT(1) LG(1) C(1) RG(1) RT(1)
LT(2) LG(2) C(2) RG(2) RT(2)
OT(3) OG(3) G(3)OG(3) OT(3)

Where OT(3) is the same dot and OG/G(3) is the same dot

And the 5 5 2 ST Special

LT(1) LG(1) C(1) RG(1) RT(1)
LT(2) LG(2) C(2) RG(2) RT(2)
ST(3) SG(3) ___ SG(3) ST(3)

Where ST(3) is the same dot and SG(3) is the same dot and ST(3) is a STOP OT archtype and SG is a STOP G archtype.

Well to be clear this is kinda inviting a discussion of the possibilities and potentials.

Not really you are just asking questions to try to get people to share information so that you can try to learn something. which I have no problem with at all but you do not have to make a ton of these threads to get people to help you. a simple PM to some folks would work out alot better for you.

IMO, 442, you can get away with 342/432/332, but it's not preferable, and any more than 442, while it may provide you with some marginal returns, is a waste of roster space that could be used in other ways that would help you more.

Oh, and more or less what Torg said above.

I always go 2-4-4
I usually build 1-2-2 myself and use them as 2nd string so the others can start.

2-2-2-2-2

Starters get the 3rd down pass blocker VA

Backups get the ST VA

Force starters on 3rd down

Never use starters on ST just the backups

Same here, or at least I build a couple of backups.
