This has happened with almost every team that has brought me on as DC. I have to PM the owner and ask for scouting abilities as I discover I don't have them as soon as I try to tag a player. Then I have to pray the owner logs on before the next game sims.

This is a no-brainer imo. When someone is given access to the defense they should automatically have scouting abilities.

Makes sense to me.
Does the DC automatically get access to the defensive depth chart? If not, this should be done as well.

I agree but only because of the "tagging" issue. There's two types of "scouts"... the one who isn't a DC that does all the leg work for each upcoming game... and the DC who must do that because the team doesn't have a designated "scout" per se`. But the DC should always have "tagging abilities" anyways... no matter who does the actual "scouting".

Scouts are nothing but a nuisance to coordinators. Personally, I would like to see tagging just as a part of defensive access but I think this is much more likely to be implemented.
