Trying to tweak my end game AI.

I see a 32 yard run taking 47 seconds off of the clock.

But if you are greedy you could probably kick a FG from the 40 yard line (57 yard field goal - have tried longer but they are chancy).

And not all plays are the same time.

So whats the longest in seconds taken off of the clock - non goofy - play from the 40 yard line or closer you have seen?

By non goofy I mean not the plays that last 10 minutes because the pile cant find the fumbled ball of course.

I am thinking more where I would like to gain more yards if I can, but do not want to accidently run out the clock and lose.

I once had a play take 23 or so seconds at the end of the game that killed the clock. It lost the game as we were in position to kick the game winning field goal. That was a while back though. It's definitely tricky setting the timing for your end game AI.

Yeah.. perhaps we should set up an AI for player tactics. I am sure it would make the game nearly impossible for the casual player, but it would make this a much easier situation.

BTW, this is in no way suggesting that we really need to do this; however it is suggesting that unless you set up individual AI's perfectly setting it up may not be very easy.

ITs RNG before you get to the LOS unless you have timeouts... you'd be playing with fire either way. I had a 60 yard pass take 15 seconds, and a 20 yard run run 45 seconds off the clock.... its all RNG

I assume here you mean 40 yard line - 57 yards. Purely speculative on my part.

Yeah trying to avoid that while still using up as much clock as possible.

Yeah there would have to be a better way to do this. But it seems like suggestions are talking to themselves since the game went "Gold".

Yeah. Trying to find the outlier on the long side. Seems like 48 seconds or so.

Yeah, timetoshine has it. That thread brought to my attention the fact that my AI really did not handle the clock well. We kicked on third down with too much time to go - giving the other team a chance to win or tie which they nearly did.

However if a run play can eat up close to 50 seconds, I am not sure if it can be avoided (the setting was less than 46 seconds when that was kicked).

What would be nice is if there was a "Let the Clock Run Down" setting.

Okay time for the suggestion forum....
