I'm building a long-term dual threat QB. I have a vague idea of how to do this, but I was looking for some other agents opinions on how I could successfully do this.

1. Have two sets of EQ. One speed, one throwing.
2. Set the QB to be either a passer or a rusher for each specific game.

imo

If you try to be good at both you flirt in dangerous ground of being all around mediocre. There's no real ability to scramble in GLB, so all you can do is make the defense play a guessing game.

IMO its a bad idea, but i'd say the only way to come close is to have him be an inside rusher--only run on draws and such and only expecting short yardage gains...that way he can take advantage of things he's need for throwing (like strength) and not have to worry about to much things he won't (like as much speed).

Some things to consider:

1) Agility and Strength are used for both pass quality AND breaking tackles;
2) Vision is also used for both throwing and running with the ball;
3) Carrying is a great all around skill, but only useful when getting hit, so not a great skill passing (most fumbles are recovered by your own team unless there are swarming blitzers);
4) Throwing is not useful for running with the ball, but is the most important attribute for throwing the ball (we presume); and
5) A passing QB doesn't consume much energy on a play, but a rushing QB will move around a lot more, necessitating more stamina than a normal pocket passing QB.

Also:

Most teams who tag you as a scrambling QB will leave a tagged 'blocking' TE uncovered (especially if using the Big I or the Singleback Big). If your 'blocking' TE is a stealth short yardage possession receiver, this can be a break-out play.

Here is my recently retired Dualie...

As you can see it was always one way or another with him. He never succeeded fully at both. That's not to say it isn't possible but against any half competent DC you're only going to beat them one way. Bolick has a better one that made it in the WL...

Even with natural throwing that high they never seem to be able to make any passes longer than 10-15 yards consistently. It's still fun to try though.

Really?

Why would you leave anyone uncovered? Loosely covered maybe, but not totally uncovered.

Not all teams leave them uncovered, but you see some teams leave them uncovered, some use a zone instead of man, others leave them 100% unblocked to sellout on the QB run.
