I sign on today and my free players have been boosted. Is that something new or was there a glitch?

Free players get free boosts and I believe they are boosted automatically on the last day of the season

There is an option to have them not get boosted that you have to uncheck or something.

There's a auto-boost option that can be turned on or off.
It's on the Edit Profile page (going to edit the player's number will get you there) for future reference.
