is the fumble roll affected by the direction the defender hits from? specifically, is the chance of fumble increased if the defender hits from the side? (i know dots don't have sides per say, lets say perpendicular to direction of movement)

I've been seeing things which suggest this may be true, just wanted a confirmation if that info is not off limits.

I believe that fumbles are more likely if the HB does not see the tackler before the hit occurs, but I can't recall if Bort has ever addressed that topic so it's just speculation on my part.

The moment of impact is a critical factor in forcing fumbles as well, so presumably a head-on collision gives you an advantage in that regard.
