I'm confused about what's best to do in the situation my LB finds himself (and please just excuse the fact that he's a poor build for his age - I made a load of N00b errors when I started and I'll retire him in the offseason, right now I'm getting my head around build mechanics)

http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=4337527

His current speed is 72.37
Next skillcap is 73.24
Difference = 0.87

Cost in SP to go over the skillcap = 4
This would take him to 73.37
Raising speed by +1 would now cost 5 SP

I have 8 SP

I have 250XP and 0TP
Next game will not get ALG, but game after that should

Speed training progress is at 77%
If I train intense he will gain 13% (with 30% training bonus)

SO - in two days, training twice at intense, he will hit the rollover
In three days, XP from games will make him rollover (2 games)
Or I could rollover right now, have 4 SP left, wait for the level gain from the game in 3 days to have 8SP and 72.87 in speed.

What's best?

What am I not understanding about all of this?

I think I should spend the 5SP to roll him over to 73.37 now
after 2 games (in 3 days) he will level gain to 73.87
I will have 9 SP
and have used 6 TP for 3 intense trainings which would take him to 74.87. (Alternatively I could have had no training at all and wait for 4 days to quad train)

What do your maths say? Or am I thinking about this all wrong?

if you have the SP now to hit next cap, do it.

You should absolutely not be intense training him. Right now you should be four-way multi-training.

As for the timing of applying skill points, you're correct in thinking that there's really no difference between adding the points now or waiting another level and adding the points then because the next ALG will not roll over the 73.24 decimal. The reason you would want to do it now is because you want the training rollover to apply toward the 5th cap instead of the 4th.

So basically, apply skill points when you have enough to cap and:
A) the next ALG would roll you over the decimal
or
B) your training bar is nearly full.

One suggestion I would make is that your Vision is quite low. Vision is becoming a more important attribute in the game for all players, so I would advise you train that up a little until at least the first soft cap

No more points into SA's either. You really shouldn't put points into SA's til like level 60 or so. You basically want to make sure your core attributes are capped where you want them before you put points into SA's.

Yeah, he is normally quad training, I just wondered about maybe switching over to get his Speed up quicker whilst on the cusp of the rollover.

When do you suggest to start quad training?

Once your main attribute is at the 2nd cap or 3rd cap based on what you want your end build to look like.

3rd cap or even later on .5 majors, and definitely later on .67 ones, but you can start after the second cap on .4 ones.
