I want to create a player but im not familiar with this game or how it works. Could someone tell me a easy but fun position to build and how to build them? and any suggestions on how to get better at making players or getting better at this game in general? many thanks for any help in advance.

Well... let's start with the bad news. Your timing of getting started for this season couldn't be worse as any dot built now will be behind too far to ever really catch up to those that built before today.
That said, I highly advise using your FREE DOT to build any position you can (there are restrictions using the FREE DOT... you cannot build a player that is already overbuilt in the system. Example; You choose to build a HB (Half Back) but there is already a LOT of HB's in the game... so it will show up as "Low Demand" when you are looking at the Dot Build page. Any position that is in LOW DEMAND probably cannot be built.)
Your new FREE Player can play for a PeeWee team or a D-League team, or... most likely... a CPU controlled team. But, for this season, you can still play around with the free player and figure things out so that when you start NEXT season, you'll know much more about what you see and hear in the forums and from other players/team owners/coaches.
While you're playing around, read the forums, check out the WIKI links, and... most importantly... make contacts with other players. Let them know you'd like to get started with them NEXT season. Not only will you already have a future home for your players, but you'll most likely find someone who can guide you along through the process of building players... a "mentor" of sorts.
At the end of this season, you can "retire" your FREE DOT/player and start over knowing much more than you do now. And I advise NOT spending any FLEX this season on your dot. You lose a small percentage of FLEX when you retire a dot. If you'd like, I can let someone know your situation and see if they want to help you out (mentor). Just chuck me a PM.

Thanks for responding. so what exactly is the difference between a 'D-League' team and a regular ol' team? is it just for beginners or something? And flex. The Flex Points? i dont have any of those, was i supposed to get some or do i buy them? if so, do i buy them with an in-game currency or real money? so basically i will not get far with this player this season from being behind so i should just start over next season? sorry for all the questions, i just need to be sure.

D-League is a cpu controlled team, that cannot be purchased.
Regular is a human or cpu team that can be purchased, the regular team has an editable A.I. so you can run the plays you want to run.
Flex Points need to be purchased in order to make more then two players, or to buy a team, donate to a team, or buy custom equipment. You buy flex points with real money.
You are actually not that far behind, you only missed three boosts, and about 2 weeks of training, but the game is set up to make it up at the end.
You get two free players, so you can use them however you want, retire and get them back.

The videos are well made, and I think they are still somewhat current.

You can boost a player 3 levels every season, there are a things called algs, they give you a small percentage upgrade to your attributes, the boosts give you a larger upgrade to your attributes. players train everyday, or if you unlock multit raining, every other day, every four days ect. ect. Yes you can train any attribute you want, it's best to train your major attribute, that would depend on the player you build.

okay..what is the highest level i can go with a player? and with training the 'main attribute'. This would mean if i had a QB i would train his throwing/passing ability?

Highest level is 79, Most cases, if you have a deep passer, pocket passer, then yes it would be throwing, for scrambler, some people build up speed (which is a minor) or agility first.

As long as he creates today, won't he have a full off-season worth of training points? Assuming that's true, players created now should absolutely be fine going forward. Basically just pick whatever attribute you want to increase first, enhance that to 10%, light train once, enhance to 20%, light train three times, then enhance to 30% and intense train that attribute until you can use your 15 skill points to cap it to 49. Then keep intense training and you should be able to reach the second cap by level 4.

Enhancing? How would i do this? And capping? This means it costs extra points to have an attribute go higher? thanks guys, this is helpful.

When you're training on the left side of your screen you will see 'Bonus Tokens'. Click on that and then enhance whatever the owner/coordinator says is your main attribute. You will know the attribute is enhanced when the star turns yellow. There should be 5, only fill in 3. This costs Bonus Tokens (10% is 6 BT's, 20% is 12 BT's, 30% is 18 BT's).
