maybe add another option to the new QB tactics option--if the QB reads blitz he sort of audibles a run in the direction away from the blitzer

so if the QB passes whatever vision check and see the a blitz coming from the weakside, he could opt to take off running to the strong side, for example.

would be a great addition for scrambling QBs and add a lot of realism.

In theory ... yes.

In practice ... more makes them wiggle around spastically when there is no pressure, before running face first into a blocked DLine dot.

*edit - will be interesting to see if the new "stepping up into the pocket more often" thing mentioned in the changelog helps out, or causes more "unforced" sacks by running into DLine dots that were being effectively blocked*

I didn;t see this suggestion but I echo it.

Add another option.

Scramble - Moves away from the direction of the blitz (vision check required) and looks to the hot route and the dump off targets (HB/FB) if nothing there attempt to turn it upfield/tuck and run.

Possibly change that from hot route to dump off targets and instead just have it check any receiver within X yards of LOS.

OR

Define the routes on a per play basis so that the short routes are automatically consider the dump routes instead of the HB/FB being considered the dump option.

OR

Allow the OC to tag certain routes as 'dump routes' (Prefer this solution)


In any case, a 'scrambling' QB should be more inclined to tuck and run after fleeing the pocket if they don't have an open receiver.

yeah, but now he has a toggle thing that could have the effect of giving even fewer options--its seems like they'll be more likely just dump it off rather than take off running (or else get sacked).. passing QBs should look for the short route and rushing QBs should be more likely to run

And 'scramble often' actually doesn't really... and the new options appear to reduce that further. A QB's first option shuold be to get rid of the ball, not risk injury or a sack, but the qb actually scrambling is pretty rare and it would be nice since there are scramble focused VA's etc to have this occur more often.

+1 enhancing QB scrambling would be a big step forward for GLB.
