I get that the D Leagues are the way for players to avoid being homeless and unwanted, or for those who do not wish to undergo the slings and arrows of recruiting or commitments.

But they draw players from the main player pool and League Contraction tells us that is a bad thing.

So....get rid of the D leagues.

Replace them with a system that both gives unconditional unjudging homes to the homeless AND fills the gaps in the leagues.

System/Dev Run Teams in the normal leagues.

Have them be available for players to join in a similar way to the D Leagues. But have them be plugged into replace CPU teams at the various age levels.

May not be much better than CPU teams but it would be more satisfying for all.

Don't you think?

Finally, a yello suggestion I can agree with.

I agree, they should dismantle the D-League, the D-League became obsolete with the emergence of the Pee Wee Leagues, and reemergence of the Casual league.

Players can find a team among one of the thousand cpu teams in the human leagues

I use the d-leagues for purely experimental builds. If there was a place where my play count wouldn't be gimped because some jag bag didn't agree with the way my dot was built... yeah I could go with that.

Inevitably what happens is, my dots get recruited and signed. Then the team owner continues to recruit and suddenly I become buried on the depth chart and stuck on special teams.

Ideally, if this goes though, these teams would have the bare minimum depth charts, and have dedicated STOPs (cpu if necessary).

A grudging +1 as long as the dev teams do not have a human owner.

Well of course, you have suggested this a few times too and I still agree that it's the way it should have been the whole time.

There are currently 608 D--league teams. These largely serve as a home to an overabundance of skill-position players at assorted age tiers. I can't think of any way to fit all of these unwanted dots into the existing league structures with dev-run teams, without adding a host of teams that would contain largely CPU players.

I bet you atleast half of the D-League teams have CPU dots on them

Yep, many of the D-league teams had CPU QBs and HBs last season. Waste of space imo.

Other than there being too many D-leagues, I don't see a problem with them. As long as simming those games doesn't slow down the rest of the GLB universe leave them be.
