Not to steal Yello's thunder on this..some people will only look at the original OP and not any improvements...pretty narrow minded, but hey are we really surprised?

Okay here goes...If an agent wants to retire his dot from a non-playoff team prior to day 41:

Step 1: The agent selects the retirement option.
Step 2: A notification is sent to that team owner letting them know that this player wants to retire.
Step 3: The owner agrees, and the funds are taken from the team money to pay the remainder of the season's wages.
Step 4: The players is immediately put in retirement. This keeps there from being any chance of that player not actually retiring and trying to sign with another team.

If there are holes here I don't see them, but if you do please state them because I am sure it could be tweaked to cover any.

Not that i think this is a bad idea but your process includes the owner getting a PM and approving the retirement. Why not just email the owner and ask for your release?

Just does not seem to be much different to how it could happen now.

sounds like he wants to avoid the agent asking for a release due to retirement but really signing with another team....

Well if we were able to release at all after the 12th game and before day 41, I would agree with you, but it doesn't work that way now so your point is a little moot, isn't it?

i think a more simple solution would be that if the team misses the playoffs the player should be allowed to opt for retirement...much like how you can when the team gets sold and is owned by cpu. The 4 non playoff games are meaningless

I agreed with Yello's original OP, however, if you read the thread, several people brought up issues with it that I covered in my version.

Why not let all dots be retired on day 41 if the agent so wishes

if the player is released in the window suggested do they still get training points since there not on a team?

IIRC you get training points, you just can not train if not on a team.

However it does not matter, the agents released in this manner are instantly retired. This is ONLY a way out so you can retire your dot and have the flex on hand to build or pay for teams on Day 40.

Better than the Yello's version. Still undecided though. I'm just not seeing the overall need other than impatience.
