So let's start with the NGTH list:
- Adding new attributes
- Revisions/Additions to Archetypes
This is neither of these. So I don't want to see the blanket NGTH tagged on this suggestion:
When creating a player, allow the user to switch his own majors and minors. The typical rules would apply where the player could not have different majors/minors than are already applicable to that type of player. This would either be a shift of majors/minors for an existing archetype and possibly the addition of another major/minor not currently assigned to that archetype but allowed by the player type. Example: If I wanted a power HB that could catch? Not saying that I would want this, because it would be EXTREMELY limited, but just as an example.
Example: CB Man Coverage - Allow the user to switch catching to a major and jumping to a minor. Our allow this player to have five majors and three minors, rather than the existing four and four.
This doesn't really screw with the archetype AND if someone tried to work the system, like have a power HB with all speed and agility then all he would have is a power HB that doesn't run outside the tackles well and he'd be worthless.
Now - this all depends on how the system is created: Is the fact that a power HB does not run well outside the tackles dependent on his archetype or his majors/minors? I assume it's archetype.
So I don't see how this situation could be exploited, but it may be a fair amount of work.
